Verdict

BAREND BOY did not appear to go on from his encouraging debut performance when finishing third at Newmarket a couple of weeks ago. That said, it was still a respectable performance and he remains the one to beat this afternoon. My Dear Friend was well supported on his debut and he should only improve for that experience. Daarik, a half-brother to a French Listed winner, cost 325,000gns as a yearling and is a newcomer to note today.

Verdict

Plenty of interesting newcomers on show here, including DAARIK, who is related to plenty of winners and hails from a yard in fine form. He is taken to make a successful debut. Barend Boy brings the best form credentials and must be respected, whilst My Dear Friend may improve on his Salisbury debut effort.

Verdict

INFRASTRUCTURE finished second in a competitive Chester maiden a couple of weeks ago and that form was boosted when the winner finished third in the London Gold Cup at the weekend. Ibraz and History Writer are others with form to consider, while the penalised Hasanoanda also merits respect. Newcomers Kindred and Swordbill both make plenty of appeal based on their pedigrees and any market support for either would have to be noted.

Verdict

IBRAZ would likely have finished a clear second with an uninterrupted passage on last month's Newmarket return, and with this step up in trip promising to suit on breeding, he's the one to beat. Infrastructure and History Writer head the opposition.

Verdict

AUSTIN POWERS was only denied by a head at Newmarket on Friday and he has an obvious chance off the same mark this afternoon. If that run has left a mark on the selection then the most likely beneficiary would be Tebay, who displayed promise in novice events over 6f/7f last year and the step up in trip should help him today. Face Like Thunder and Mashaheer are relatively unexposed and are worth a second glance.

Verdict

AUSTIN POWERS found improvement when narrowly foiled on his return at Newmarket last weekend and is taken to gain quick compensation here. Face Like Thunder and Viceroy Mac head the list of dangers.

Verdict

VERANDAH was beaten at odds on at Wolverhampton last time out but she was not too far behind on that occasion and it is too soon to be writing her off. The daughter of Medicean displayed plenty of ability as a juvenile and she should be capable of winning a race of this nature. The unbeaten Caiya is a big threat and she does get plenty of weight from the selection. Arabian Jazz and Rasima are the pick of the remainder.

Verdict

This looks tricky but RASIMA is still low mileage and was only just denied her first success at Wolverhampton last time. She can make a successful switch to handicapping. Caiya and Line House rate the principal dangers.

Verdict

Double Reflection has been beaten by under a length on her last two starts over this trip at Windsor and at this venue latest. The handicapper has reacted with a 5lb rise but she's expected to give another good account of herself. Narrow preference, however, is for SEA YOUMZAIN, who has been handed a workable mark of 73 ahead of her handicap bow. This appears a more realistic assignment for Dance Me, who struggled in a German Group 3 latest.

Verdict

It could be worth chancing STORM JAZZ, who was denied a clear run when fourth at Chelmsford last time and remains on a decent mark. Double Reflection and Dance Me are other key players.

Verdict

NAVAJO STAR stayed on well in the closing stages when second over 1m6f at Goodwood earlier in the month and is expected to improve on that effort now granted this stiffer test. This looks tougher than the claimer Serenity Now won at Southwell last time but he could feasibly play a minor role. A bigger danger for win purposes, however, may be Northwest Frontier, who was outpaced over 1m4f at Musselburgh latest and could relish this step up in distance.

Verdict

NAVAJO STAR has had a productive first half of the year and showed with her recent second at Goodwood that she is just as effective on turf. She is taken to score. Hallstatt and Northwest Frontier are others to consider.
