Verdict

POPPING CORKS sets a decent standard with his four and three-quarter lengths sixth behind subsequent Listed scorer Signora Cabello at Bath and, with normal improvement expected, she looks sure to go close. Lady Wolf was just a length behind the selection in seventh that day so she warrants respect, while Swinging Jean, Aussie View, Summer Blossom and Welcoming are all newcomers worthy of a close market inspection.

Verdict

The market will help portray the perceived ability of the newcomers, with SUMMER BLOSSOM, Welcoming and Aussie View all likely types on paper. The first-named filly was resold for €160,000 as a yearling and holds a listed entry, so gets the vote.

5/1, career best when winning 14-runner handicap at Windsor (8.1f, good) 29 days ago (second past the post but subsequently promoted). Not taken lightly.

Verdict

It might pay to side with Richard Hannon's three-year-old BOMBSHELL BAY, who was rightfully promoted from second to first at Windsor last month, a race in which two runners in behind have won since. Irish raider Cash In Mind has been running well on testing ground and past efforts would suggest that he can improve for this switch to a faster surface, while Global Exceed merits consideration on his seasonal reappearance under top French jockey Gerald Mosse.

Verdict

BOMBSHELL BAY had a couple of subsequent winners in behind when making most at Windsor last month and can defy a 3 lb rise. Cash In Mind and Vixen head the dangers.

Good third of 8 in handicap (6/1) at Yarmouth (8f, soft) 21 days ago.

Good third of 8 in handicap (6/1) at Yarmouth (8f, soft) 21 days ago.

Verdict

Kachumba had Silverturnstogold one length back in fourth when scoring at Brighton and that piece of form gives both of those runners a chance, while Give Em A Clump appears to hold solid claims following runner-up efforts at Windsor and Bath. However, a chance is taken on handicap/turf debutant SUPEREGO. The 65-rated filly hasn't been without promise in three all-weather appearances and she is partnered by Adam Kirby for the first time today.

Verdict

KACHUMBA showed improved form to get off the mark on turf debut at Brighton 2 weeks ago and should go well again off 2 lb higher. Silverturnstogold and Madame Jo Jo are others to consider.

Thrice-raced winner. Fifth of 7 in minor event (5/1) at Newbury (7f, good). Off 8 months. First run for yard after leaving Henry Candy. Makes handicap debut. May well do better.

Verdict

GLOBAL TANGO improved throughout his juvenile campaign, signing off with a determined novice auction stakes success at Newcastle, and there is every chance that he will take another step forward now gelded. Charles Hills' handicap debutant gets the vote to make a winning return at the main expense of triple course winner Satchville Flyer, who struck the crossbar at L'Ancresse when last sighted, and the dropped-in-class Prestbury Park.

Verdict

Not an easy race to form a strong opinion, but OPERATIVE would have finished a lot closer on his recent reappearance at Nottingham with a clear run, so he could be the way to go. Satchville Flyer is a course regular and a big threat, while Global Tango is perhaps the pick of the 3-y-o quartet.

1 win from 2 runs this year. 7/2, didn't need to improve to win 8-runner handicap at Lingfield (10f, good to soft) 10 days ago, keeping on well. Expected to be bang there.

Verdict

There is no stopping Mick Channon at the moment and there certainly was no stopping his ICONIC BELLE at Yarmouth last week. The four-year-old daughter of Sixties Icon won pretty much as she liked that day and a 6lb penalty probably won't be enough to anchor her if arriving in the same mood. Sunshineandbubbles has been in blistering form and looks the obvious danger, although Lingfield scorer Midnight Mood is unlikely to be far away either.

Verdict

MIDNIGHT MOOD has started the season in form and is only 2 lb higher for winning at Lingfield 10 days ago. Iconic Belle had a fair bit in hand when belatedly off the mark at Yarmouth last week and has to be respected under a penalty, while AW regular Sunshineandbubbles is potentially well treated back on turf.
