Didn't need to improve to get off the mark in a Windsor maiden but subsequent handicap second at Salisbury over this trip has worked out well. Lots to like if ready to go after 3 months off.

Verdict

Rex Bell has improved throughout the year and will be looking to make the most of his weight-for-age allowance, but LORD BEN STACK rates the one to beat. He has won two of his four previous visits to the Merseyside track, including when producing a career-best performance over the extended 1m2f last time, and Clifford Lee's valuable claim helps to ease the burden of top weight. This trip is an unknown but he certainly showed no signs of stopping the last day. Rydan and Salmon Sushi have also been in decent form while the betting market could prove a good guide to Wrangler's chances.

Verdict

REX BELL's form has a solid look to it and he ran really well on his handicap debut against other 3-y-os at Salisbury. Back from a break he could get back to winning ways. The returning Wrangler is very interesting and any market support would need noting, while Lord Ben Stack would be hard to peg back if given the same amount of rope he got here 3 weeks ago.

Verdict

Lots of these have chances but it might pay to side with Hugo Palmer's newcomer FLEABISCUIT. The High Chaparral filly is certainly bred to have plenty of ability, her sales value increased from 10,000 guineas to 57,000 euros in the space of ten months and an entry in the Group 1 Dubai Fillies' Mile suggests that she has been impressing her shrewd handler at home. Pattie and The Jean Genie are other interesting debutants, however, and any market support for them would be interesting, while Free To Dance and Rickrack are the standard setters in terms of form shown on the track.

Verdict

ROCKSHINE did well to finish as close as she did on debut at Ascot 3 weeks ago and it would be no surprise if she left that bare form well behind. Fleabiscuit still holds an entry for the Fillies' Mile so needs keeping an eye on, while Free To Dance and Rickrack both remain with potential.

Verdict

Crowned Eagle is certainly bred to have plenty of ability, being a half-brother to Group 2 winners Eagle Top, Wings Of Desire and The Lark, and it will be disappointing if he doesn't take close order on debut, but preference is for the once-raced FUJAIRA BRIDGE. There was plenty to like about his debut seventh in a hot Newmarket maiden over 7f and, with Roger Varian's horses in blistering form at the moment, he looks sure to mount a bold bid. Muhajjal, Pincheck and Kasperenko are just a few more to consider in what could be a maiden worth following.

Verdict

MUHAJJAL sets a clear standard on his placed efforts at Newbury and Ascot and appeals as the most likely winner, but this looks a warm maiden and there are potential dangers aplenty, Kasperenko and Reverend Jacobs a couple of the more obvious ones.

Successful a couple of times for Richard Fahey at 2 yrs, but form has been up and down this year for current yard, so it's easy enough to look elsewhere from 3 lb out of the handicap.

Successful a couple of times for Richard Fahey at 2 yrs, but form has been up and down this year for current yard, so it's easy enough to look elsewhere from 3 lb out of the handicap.

Verdict

ABOVE N BEYOND has lost his way in recent months but he is back on the same mark off which he was second in the Silver Bowl over C&D in May and a return to that level of form may well suffice. Silvery Moon hasn't been hit hard for his head victory at Ayr and should remain competitive, while Takatul remains open to further improvement off his current mark, despite his Ascot flop last time.

Verdict

WEEKEND OFFENDER has progressed well this year, and his fourth-placed effort at York from a tough draw a month ago certainly shouldn't be viewed as a backward step, so he is selected to regain the winning thread. Takatul was too free last time, but remains a good prospect, with Above N Beyond's placed effort in the Silver Bowl from this mark probably the best piece of form on offer.

In the form of his life earlier this term, winning 5f handicaps here (firm) and at Newmarket (heavy) in June. However, last couple of runs suggest he's gone off the boil for now.

Verdict

The Portland handicap form at Doncaster looks worth following in this contest and HARRY HURRICANE (third) is fancied to reverse the form with Humidor (second). The selection has blinkers applied for the first time and the booking of title-chasing Jim Crowley suggests that the four-year-old remains in excellent form. He is drawn to attack in stall four and good ground should be perfect for George Baker's charge. East Street revue has gone up almost two stone since the season began but he remains a gelding on the upgrade, while claims can also be given to Robot Boy, Bashiba and Waseem Faris.

Verdict

EAST STREET REVUE has just gone from strength to strength since the blinkers have been added and is taken to defy the handicapper again. The thriving Bashiba, last year's fourth Robot Boy and George Baker's Portland second/third Humidor and Harry Hurricane head the many dangers in what looks a typically competitive renewal of this valuable sprint.
